First, and central part, of a triptych project I am working on: The Sons of Finwë.
For Fëanor was made the mightiest in all parts of body and mind: in valour, in endurance, in beauty, in understanding, in skill, in strength and subtlety alike: of all the Children of Eru, and a bright flame was in him. (J.R.R. Tolkien – HoME X) This is my third portrait of Fëanor... I think this one looks better and more like my mental picture of this character - and yet, I don't think I will ever be able to do the character justice. Pencil sketch.
